Alternative links are part of your playlist's server. If the DNS for your list is blocked, you can continue watching using the alternatives. However, if there is an issue with the server, none of the alternatives will work.
Although their DNS addresses differ, there is no functional difference between them since they belong to the same server and use identical usernames and passwords.

New VODs are definitely added every day, and channels may be added every day too, but if they're from countries you don't follow, you won't notice.
